The whole purpose of places like Xanga is for people with no social ability whatsoever to spill their guts to the world in one simple blog. So people who don't know who I am or what on earth I'm doing can, with a simple click of the button, get not only an updated report on the trivialities of my life, but also an absolutely illusional sense of close friendship.

Name: Karen

Interests: VOLLEYBALL! (was there ever any doubt?), shooting pics, quiet time at Starbucks, arcade basketball, making people laugh or blush (or both), writing (but not blogging-- do you know how long it's taken me to figure this out?), and I'm sure there'd be more if I had time to think about it
Expertise: Running a three-ring circus (just give me two computers, a printer, a digital camera, a cell phone, a bag carrier-- and I'm set), including everyone in everything (I don't want them to feel left out), concocting ministry opportunities (so I can get paid to do stuff I enjoy doing), NOT cooking

Good-bye, Taipei...

This is where this chapter ends. How I will miss it!

And now in the final hours, I linger, but I cannot tarry. The future is beckoning...

THIRTEEN

In thirteen days...
...I leave my home of thirteen years.

I never thought I'd call Taipei home.
I never thought I'd stay for thirteen years.

After years of leaving Taipei for short trips to the US, having "one last" get-together with friends has become somewhat normal. Only... this time that "one last" get-together also includes the family I love.

In love there lies a strange dichotomy of conflicting emotions:

To dread the thought of saying good-bye and
To desire reunion with the one I love..."forsaking all others."
